The Caribbean Information Society will share information and knowledge related to the development of ICT and its use in the Caribbean Region. It provides links to documents, websites, and databases; and provides information on events which contribute to knowledge sharing within the Caribbean Information Society.

The Content Management of this site is vested in the Portal Manager (PM), CARICOM Secretariat, who can be contacted at clawrence@caricom.org or on telephone number 1 (592) 222-0001 Ext. 3331.

Content Review

The Caribbean Information Society will use a deferred publishing approach in which all submitted (or edited) content will be reviewed by the PM. The PM will apply this policy when determining whether the content is suitable for this website.


Any content will be rejected if it is deemed inappropriate by the Portal Manager. Inappropriate content is content which is deemed racist, pornographic, advocating violence, or is prejudicial to any section of the membership, usership, or general audience. The decision to reject inappropriate content can be reviewed if the person who submits the content wishes to challenge this decision. In such a case, queries or a specific challenge can be submitted to the Portal Manager here or by post to:

Submission of Content

All registered users of the Caribbean Information Society can submit content to the portal. Learn more about how to post content to the portal here.



All copyright arrangements and statements of ownership must be clearly resolved in the source of the content or in the case of documents, within the documents themselves. Please make reference to the Terms of Use.

The Portal Manager will use this editorial policy to review the classification of the content as necessary.

Valid/Appropriate Content

Users are encouraged to submit full text for content which might be short lived and not archived, e.g., news content. However, references to the source must be provided.

The Caribbean Information Society would be used to announce the availability of publications which are related to any of the ICT Focus Areas.


File Size and Type


Files which are uploaded to the Caribbean Information Society should not be larger than 2 MB. Files larger than 2 MB should be broken down into smaller parts. Video content which is likely to be of larger file sizes can be uploaded to the Caribbean Information Society You Tube channel This is promote a more efficient web experience while browsing this website. The preferred document type is .pdf (Portable Document Format). However, .doc, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, and .png files are also allowed. The Caribbean Information Society will work with persons who have submitted content in other formats to convert into PDF.


Correction of Errors


The Portal Manager will address any errors of fact or interpretation that originate from the decisions or actions in dealing with content.

Translation


The google translation technology is currently being used to translate content on this website. Please note that some translations will be less than accurate



Disclaimer


The Portal Manager will rely on feedback from users about the validity, accuracy, and currency of content (e.g., if the links are no longer available, or version upgrades to documents are available). The users of the Caribbean Information Society are encouraged to report any changes in the validity of submissions so that the appropriate changes can be made.



Changes to this Policy


This policy will be reviewed from time to time or every six (6) months. The last revision of this editorial policy is August 20th 2010.
