The Information and Communication Technology Unit (ICTU) of the Establishment, Personnel and Training Department (EPTD) announced the launch of a web application dubbed "Connect2Government" on Friday, April 20, 2012. Connect2Government can be described as a web based help desk system developed by the ICTU which will allow an Operator to query clients' questions/inquiries using a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Database. The system offers two special features: a database of over hundred questions on government services and an administrator search engine. Related Member States:

The United Nations E-Government Survey 2012: E-Government for the People was completed in December 2011 and launched in February 2012. The 2012 edition of the survey was prepared in a context of multiple challenges of an open, responsive and collaborative government for the people. The report examines the institutional framework for e-government and finds that the presence of a national coordinating authority can help overcome internal barriers and focus minds on integrated responses to citizen concerns – an important lesson for sustainable development actors. The Survey also argues that e-government provides administrators with powerful tools for grappling with problems of social equity and the digital divide. ICT Pulse

Publisher/Editor is Michelle Marius This blog has been created to discuss topical Information and Communications Technology (ICT) issues from a Caribbean perspective. ICTs are critical drivers of development in the world today, and are shaping the future to be knowledge and information focussed. We have catchphrases such as “Information Society” and ‘knowledge-based society”, but many of us really do not know what they mean, how they affect use of ICT, or what is required to realise them.
